Summary

William Hackett Marine Grade 8 Lifting Chain is manufactured by our supply chain partner Mckinnon chain in South Africa. The marine Grade 8 chain is embossed with manufacturer's mark and grade (OS8) and class leading batch code traceability. All sizes for the William Hackett marine Grade 8 are proof tested at manufacture to 2.5 times the given working load limit and have a range of diameters from 7mm - 32mm. The Hackett marine Grade 8 chain is suitable for use in a temperature range of -50°C up to 200°C without reduction in working load limit, reductions apply up to 400°C.

Manufactured specifically to be suitable for working in extreme environments, the William Hackett Marine grade 8 chain incorporates industry leading surface coating ZINC-TOUGHTM technology. The Marine Grade 8 chain is fully compliant to EN818 material requirements and combined with a specific heat treatment process allows the alloy steel hardness to be controlled to give a maximum of 38HRC. The manufacturing process of the Marine Grade 8 chain  gives improves toughness and ductility in extreme conditions with increased resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and stress induced corrosion cracking.

Applications

William Hackett Marine Grade 8 chain is utilised in DNV welded chain slings and is based on DNV type approval nos. TAS0000336 Rev. 1 and TAS00001RH Rev. 1. These fully welded assemblies are used to lift equipment and containers from vessels offshore onto platforms.

The Marine Grade 8 chain is also used in DNV mechanically assembled slings. (Not fully welded) William Hackett are the first to be approved by DNV for the design and supply of DNV Grade 8 mechanically assembled chain slings into the harsh offshore environment worldwide. DNV Grade 8 mechanically assembled chain slings can be supplied against bespoke designs from stock in the UK in both 2 leg and 4 leg configurations in sizes 13mm - 20mm up to a container mass gross weight of 25 tonnes.
