Our Sustainability Journey

At William Hackett, we believe actions speak louder than words. That’s why we’ve taken the first step on a clear, no-nonsense path to reduce our environmental impact and lead the way in our industry.

Our First Milestone

We’ve partnered with Greenly, a global leader in carbon management, to complete a comprehensive greenhouse gas assessment. This independent review gives us a clear picture of our footprint and how we can make meaningful reductions.

We’re proud to have achieved a Silver Climate Strategy Rating, placing us among the top performers in our sector and setting the foundation for future progress.

What this means

Understanding where our emissions come from allows us to take targeted action. Our biggest opportunities lie in working closely with suppliers and embedding sustainability into every part of our business. This isn’t just about compliance - it’s about leadership, cost efficiency, stronger relationships, and a better planet.

The Approach

Conducted by Greenly, the assessment used the GHG Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology, including:

Measurement Scope

Scope 1: Direct emissions from operations, for example fuel combustion
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
Scope 3: Indirect emissions across the value chain, including parts, materials, upstream distribution and transportation, to name a few

Methodology

To build our assessment, data from across the business operations were reviewed by Greenly, including accounting data, employee surveys, building and activity data. Official GHG Protocol standards, ADEME and GWP 100 factors, ensured audit-grade reporting.

Where next?

Our Roadmap

Our greenhouse gas assessment highlighted where the majority of our emissions come from and how we can begin to break this down into meaningful steps and progress. Including the collaboration beyond our own operations, working closely with all core suppliers to align sustainability policies, share best practices, and ensure compliance with evolving standards such as CBAM. By embedding carbon impact considerations into procurement decisions, we can collectively reduce emissions and strengthen resilience across the value chain.

This is the start of a long-term commitment to sustainability. By taking measurable steps today, we’re building a stronger, more responsible future for our people, our customers, and our planet. Follow our journey as we share updates on our progress and the actions we’re taking to make a real difference.
